Mark Davis is the owner of The Las Vegas Raiders and he is to professional football what Billy Barty was to height.
In searching for a new Head Coach for his team, Mr. Davis could have settled on Jim Harbaugh who won twice as many games as he lost as head coach of the San Francisco 49ers. Harbaugh is a proven winner who owns one of the best winning percentages of any coach in NFL History.
He was the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers from 2011 until the 2014 season, during which time the 49ers went 44-19-1.
Instead, he is apparently going to hire Josh McDaniel, the offensive coordinator of the New England Patriots who had a losing record when he was the Head Coach of the Denver Broncos.
McDaniels record was 11-17 at Denver before he was fired.
How difficult is it to choose between the two Head Coaches?
Mr. Davis could have hired an experienced Head Coach who won twice as many games as he lost or he could hire as Head Coach a man who won less than 40 % of his games in Denver.
I expected all along he'd make the stupid decision to hire McDaniels because Mr. Davis has always been running on empty hope divorced from reality.
It is why he hired Jon Gruden to be Head Coach of the Raiders after Gruden had been a fired as Tampa Bay Head Coach after years of sub-mediocrity and ghastly draft picks and after he had been out of coaching, working as an NFL commentator, for a decade.
Mr. Davis hired him for 100 million dollars on a ten year deal - a completely unheard of and unjustified contract - and Gruden, a franchise killer, ran the team into the ground and was fired because some NFL official leaked his private emails.
To the average fan it is crystal clear that Ed Dodds, assistant to General Manager Chris Ballard of the Indianapolis Colts ( a team loaded with talent) is the correct hire as The Raiders GM but Mr. Davis, who specialises in idiocy and inanity, did not hire him after interviewing him for the position.
No, it appears that Mr. Davis, whose haircut is an indication of his mental acuity and judgement, has settled on Josh McDaniel as Head Coach and some Patriots factotum named Ziegler as GM.
It is clear that McDaniels will be a failure but laugh all the way to the bank while Mr. Davis, running on empty hope, will actualise his magical thinking that simply by hiring a coach from a successful franchise will result in the Las Vegas Raiders becoming like that franchise.
That was the same "thinking" behind the Jon Gruden hire - that he would magically restore the Raiders greatness.
OK, Raider Fan, here comes more of your team's massive failure because stupid decisions are not even a speed bump to Mark Davis, the son of Lord Al Davis, who inherited the team after Lord Al went to that Eternal Flame in the stadium- a man who does not know the difference between football and foot powder.
